Job Description

Position Title: Lead Volunteer Coordinator

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Volunteer Manager

Location: Denver

Compensation: $24.20/hourly

The Lead Volunteer Coordinator serves as one of the front-line liaisons to Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) volunteers internal partners and external organizations. This role works in close partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator and volunteer areas to coordinate and manage FBR volunteers including communications scheduling orientation stewardship and program improvements and position is a leader in providing great customer service and facilitating an engaging and meaningful volunteer experience.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities:


Essential Functions: 70%

  • Serve as a front-line liaison toFood Bank of the Rockies (FBR)volunteers internal partners and external organizations handling volunteer-related inquiries such as emails and calls
  • Execute a detailed volunteer experience plan in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator including greeting and orienting volunteers onFBRs mission programs and safety rulesand thanking them after a shift
  • Monitor and assess daily weekly and monthly volunteer needs coordinating volunteer assignments with internal departments such as Operations Kitchen Mobile Pantries Development Special Events & Promotions and Programs
  • Act as the lead point of contact for all volunteer typesindividuals school/community/corporate groups and court-ordered volunteershandling recruitment scheduling and communications.
  • Maintain proper data entry techniques to accurately schedule and track volunteer data in volunteer software and actively add relevant volunteer/donor correspondence and activities in Raisers Edge donor database to support Development team
  • Troubleshoot volunteer-related issues and recommend proactive strategies to prevent recurrence
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and care ensuring the privacy and respect of employees volunteers partners donors or others

Support Functions: 25%

  • Assist in the creation distribution collection analysis and follow-up of volunteer surveys to support volunteer program evaluation
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to update volunteer-related documents and training manuals
  • Support the implementation of volunteer recognition program includingVolunteer of the Month recognition and annual Feeding Hope volunteer appreciation reception
  • Build and maintain relationships with individual volunteers (i.e. regularly scheduled volunteers and long-time volunteers)
  • Cultivate partnerships with local community organizations schools universities businesses faith-based groups and service organizations for ongoing volunteer recruitment
  • Support Volunteer Manager with Volunteer Relations Committee activities and initiatives and serve as lead for a sub-committee

Other Tasks: 5%

  • Execute administrative housekeeping and facilities tasks to support volunteer shifts including maintaining a clean volunteer breakroom and locker area laundering gloves and coordinating building entry and exit needs among other tasks
  • Execute volunteer safety plans and provide feedback to Safety Committee as relevant
  • Provide thought-partnership as needed to Western Slope and Wyoming volunteer teams

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of the Rockies mission and positively representing the brand both internally and externally
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with a wide range of constituents
  • Able to interact with others in a diplomatic courteous and positive manner
  • Comfortable with speaking to large groups and giving tours
  • Must have strong organizational multi-tasking and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines and objectives
  • Ability to prioritize and work with multiple groups at the same time
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; self-directed proactive and independent problem solver
  • Strong computer skills; advanced Excel and Microsoft Word knowledge required

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree a plus; or equivalent work-related experience
  • Minimum three to five years prior experience working in volunteer coordination and/or customer service roles; prior experience working in a nonprofit environmenta plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
  • Experience and or willingness to learn volunteer and donor software expected
  • Bilingual highly preferred Spanish preferred

Expected Hours of Work:

This role is considered full-time non-exempt position working approximately 40 hours per week. The standard work schedule is Monday Friday alternating between 7:30 am 4 pm and 8:00 am 4:30 pm. The position includes the flexibility to work one (1) day remotely. Work schedules may vary and can include evenings and Saturdays.


Compensation:

$24.20/hourly
