Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Outreach & Engagement and an integral part of a dynamic team the OEI Engagement Coordinator coordinates all programs and initiatives under the engagement branch of the Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI). This position handles all aspects of planning and logistics for high-profile OEI events programs and initiatives in the interest of enhancing the universities responsiveness to inclusion needs on campus.

Essential Functions

  • Manage planning and coordination of events programs and engagement initiatives led by the Office of Equity & Inclusion.
  • Support the Assistant Vice Chancellor through project management efforts contributing to the advancement of special initiatives and collaborative projects as well as oversight and support of Graduate Assistant tasks and objectives.
  • Oversee the grant application process for all OEI grant initiatives including Engagement Fund Grants Campus Climate Improvement Grants and Advancing Community Democracy and Dialogue Grants.
  • Contribute to the implementation of innovative co-curricular programs and initiatives to sustain and/or increase engagement and community building for the UMass community.
  • Gather information and provide appropriately synthesized information and reports.
  • Communicate with crosscampus parties developing and monitoring plans.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with both internal and external campus partners.
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of current trends and participate in related training to stay abreast of new developments in the field and apply new knowledge as appropriate.

Other Functions

  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Department Executive Area/Division and University goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills Abilities Education Experience Certifications Licensure)

  • Bachelors degree with one (1) year of experience in project or event management.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience serving a large culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity diversity inclusion accessibility and justice.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge Skills Abilities Education Experience Certifications Licensure)

  • Prior experience in engagement DEI and/or programming in higher education.
  • Experience in developing strategies to increase program creation and engagement.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment.

Work Schedule

  • Monday Friday9:00 am - 5:00 pm (37.5 hours per week).
  • Required to work some nights and weekends.
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employees work isregularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. Asthis position falls within the Professional Staff Union it is subject to the terms and conditionsof the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
