Head Volleyball Coach

Responsibilities

Mariana Bracetti Academy athletic coaches actively encourage academic and athletic excellence for all students. They strive to create a scholastic environment that nurtures as it challenges. Athletic coaches work purposely and relentlessly to lay the foundation of life-long learning and physical well-being. To achieve this vision Mariana Bracetti Academy athletic coaches focus on two primary goals:

• GOAL 1: Organize and Coordinate a Comprehensive Athletic Program
• Athletic coaches organize and coordinate a comprehensive athletic program in the assigned sport that complies with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). They model and expect exceptional sportsmanship and teach the fundamentals strategies rules and proper conditioning for their assigned sport. Athletic coaches ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program including inspecting the safety of facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.

• GOAL 2: Monitor and Support Student Achievement
• Athletic coaches recognize that the primary role of all student athletes is that of a student. As such athletic coaches consistently monitor and support student achievement by checking athletes grades weekly providing opportunities for team homework assistance and maintaining ongoing communication with athletes teachers Athletic Director and School Principals. Athletic coaches accurately report students academic progress and adjust game rosters and strategies appropriately to ensure that academics remain a top priority for all student athletes.

Duties

• Comply with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) The Philadelphia Public League and school policies related to sports participation student travel and supervision and the media.
• Submit forms as required by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) and any local leagues.
• Communicate to all participants the policies of the team school and athletic league.
• Appropriately issue transport collect inventory and store athletic equipment and uniforms.
• Instruct participants in safety procedures and the need to report injuries to the Athletic Director or to Administration immediately.
• Develop and implement strategic practice plans
• Complete bi-weekly grade and behavior checks on the off weeks of the athletic department
• Hold comprehensive try-outs that provide all students with an equal opportunity to compete with necessary cuts based on skill and character
• Ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and ice packs at all times.
• Report all game scores to the appropriate score services immediately following an athletic competition
• Track student attendance at all practices and competitions

Qualifications

• Demonstrate prior coaching experience or has participated in the sport to be coached (preferred).
• Possess the necessary clearances including a current FBI clearance Pennsylvania criminal background check child abuse clearance and Act 168 clearances.
• Value diversity and display an ability to work with and understand people from all cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency as an instructional/non-instructional member of the MBA staff if currently employed.
• Command a strong work ethic that welcomes challenges and the opportunity to work through them.
