Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses including glasses and contact lenses.
- Evaluate patients for potential eye surgeries and collaborate with surgical teams.
- Provide pre-operative assessments and post-operative care for surgical patients.
- Educate patients on eye health treatment options and preventive measures.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment for precise evaluations.
- Monitor patient progress and treatment efficacy over time.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of findings.
- Stay abreast of current eye care trends and advancements in technology.
- Develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Assist in ocular surgeries as needed providing intra-operative support.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment plans.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote eye health awareness.
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for patient management.
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure to practice optometry in the relevant state.
- Experience in an eye care setting preferably with surgical exposure.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and therapeutic eye care equipment.
- Strong understanding of ocular diseases and treatment modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in fast-paced and team-oriented environments.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Basic knowledge of surgical procedures related to ocular health.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and billing practices.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Compassionate approach to patient care.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education courses related to optometry.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient needs.
- Experience in community eye care initiatives is preferred.
- Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
