Job Description
Student Support Services/School Speech Pathologist
School Speech Pathologist
- Possesses knowledge of federal state and local laws regulation and policies regarding childrens special education eligibility and programming.
- Selects and administers age-appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student.
- Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive speech assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.
- Participates in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Participates in other pertinent meetings at various schools assigned as needed.
- Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding speech services and the academic/speech needs of students.
- Work with parents teachers and administrators to develop strategies to address learning difficulties.
- Prepare timely reports to maintain timelines for paperwork completion and conferences.
- Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of speech pathology and shares with colleagues.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid certificate and necessary credentials for a State approved Speech Pathologist.
- Must display excellent communication skills.
- Have knowledge of current research changes and trends in Speech Pathology
- Must display excellent people skills.
