Amazon Web Services is looking for Software Development Engineers to develop state of the art Linux based networking platforms. You will join a team of engineers developing embedded routing platforms that enable one of the worlds largest and complex networks.

Key job responsibilities
Software Development Engineers in the Network Product Development Interconnect team design and deploy high quality software tools that aid in network and/or systems operations and deployments. These include software tools that support scaling as well as technology refreshes as well as the implementation of sustaining engineering best practices application and network optimization. It includes:
- Develops scalable interfaces for and builds core services used to evaluate link health
- Delivers infrastructure to productionize monitor and self-evaluate science models built to monitor components in the production and pre-production fleet
- Engages with stakeholders to understand data and monitoring requirements to support active and passive monitoring of links deployed at scale in the network
A day in the life
On an everyday basis as part of our team you have the unique opportunity to understand the growing AWS network and our internal customers requirement on interconnect solutions. Youll work backwards to devise hardware solutions by influencing the broad industry and/or to develop software tools with sister teams to maintain a highly available network that delights AWS customers. You design and implement processes and mechanisms that both help the team to deliver business impact to the organization in a systemic way while also helping to raise the bar on our operational excellence.

About the team
Within AWS Networking the NPD (Network Product Development) organization is responsible for designing the hardware building the software and owning the interconnects for the routers that power the global AWS network. Beyond product delivery we actively manage the fleet or routers in a network that grows by 70% annually. This means tracking key business and operational metrics to ensure that we operate smoothly and minimize or eliminate customer impact due to device related issues for a transparent AWS customer experience.

Working at AWS in the Core Networking Team Meet Matt Director Core Networking ---
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 2 years of experience in AWS services (EMR ECS Redshift DDB CloudWatch Quicksight Kinesis)
- 2 years of experience in big data analysis (Python Pyspark SQL)
- Experience debugging diagnosing and troubleshooting complex production software issues
- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this roles.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market.
