Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Forty-eight credit hours post-secondary and/or Para Certification.
  • Job Coaching Certification through local organizations is a plus.
  • Able to support and collaborate well with others with a variety of abilities.
  • Initiative to be a self-starter flexible and solution-focused.
  • Experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Able to navigate active communication and positive relationships with others including effective oral presentation of information as well as being responsive to high levels of data and verbal information.
  • Will represent the special education department and will do so with high levels of professionalism ethical integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively and work both independently and collaboratively as required by the tasks.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

  • Special Education Coordinator / Building Administrator

SUPERVISES:

  • Supervises 1 to 8 students during a work period. Maintains a safe and organized environment for all students

JOB GOAL(S):

The PAES Lab Supervisor will oversee the delivery of vocational assessments career exploration and job readiness training to students with disabilities in the Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab. This position is responsible for providing hands-on individualized learning experiences for students helping them to build essential work skills explore career pathways and develop independence in a safe and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with disabilities a passion for helping others succeed and the ability to organize manage and support a wide variety of tasks and activities related to career development. This role requires a collaborative patient and flexible approach to working with students in a vocational training setting.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but require a minimum of the following physical requirements: Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 40 pounds on occasion

Requires some stooping and kneeling

Must be able to transition from different locations for 7-8 hours per day

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Systematically implements manages and maintains the PAES Lab curriculum.
  • Monitors and Documents student progress using PAES Lab data/documentation forms.
  • Maintains inventory of PAES materials; requests replacements via district guidelines for requesting PAES materials for purchase.
  • Implements accommodations and modifications to tasks or materials to ensure students with disabilities can fully participate in all activities.
  • Develops and communicates a daily schedule to the building administrator and Transition Coordinator.
  • Supports students in participating in a variety of simulated work tasks providing guidance on how to complete each task accurately and efficiently.
  • Guides students development of soft skills such as communication responsibility and professional conduct that are critical to workplace success.
  • Assists students in performing hands-on tasks related to job skills training including activities in areas such as office administration retail hospitality food service and other vocational areas.
  • Work closely with special education teachers and other staff members to ensure that activities are appropriately modified to meet the needs of each student.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required to stay informed on best practices for supporting students with disabilities in vocational settings.
  • Ensure that the PAES Lab environment is safe and accessible for all students including maintaining equipment managing workspace organization and monitoring student safety during activities.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness organizing materials and preparing workstations for daily activities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

260 contract days

Full-time Year Round. Hours and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education. Requires the commitment to professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:30 - 4:30 work day.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Districts policy on Evaluation State Statute and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
