Grants Manager
POSITION: Grants Manager
LOCATION: DSST: Home Office located in Denver CO
SALARY RANGE: $63500 $76600 based on aligned experience up to 10 years.
STATUS/CLASSIFICATION: Full time benefits eligible exempt in-person position (Denver CO)

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an organized strategic and highly collaborative Grants Manager to join our dynamic development team. This individual will play a central role in DSSTs fundraising success by leading the day-to-day execution and continual improvement of our grants program. The Grants Manager will manage the full lifecycle of grant fundingfrom research and proposal development to tracking compliance and reporting.
Working in close partnership with and managed by the Senior Manager of Grants and Institutional Giving the Grants Manager will collaborate across DSST teamsincluding school leaders program staff finance and data teamsto craft compelling proposals align budgets with project goals and ensure grant outcomes are met. This is a highly cross-functional role ideal for a systems-thinker and persuasive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced mission-driven environment.
Grant Development Management & Collaboration (75%)
Write high-quality tailored grant proposals letters of inquiry and reports for foundations corporations and government entities.
Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify new grant opportunities aligned with DSSTs strategic priorities.
Develop and maintain a deep understanding of DSSTs programs student outcomes and operational goals to inform compelling narratives.
Collect and synthesize relevant data program outcomes and staff insights needed for grant submissions and reports.
Build and track project and grant budgets in partnership with the finance team and grant program managers ensuring alignment between financials and narratives.
Utilize and continually improve systems for tracking application timelines deliverables outcomes and funder requirements.
Monitor grant performance to ensure deliverables are met and proactively communicate progress to stakeholders.
Submit all grant materials in a timely and compliant manner.
Funder Relationships & Stewardship (5%)
Cultivate and maintain relationships with a portfolio of funders through personalized communication gratitude and periodic updates.
Support occasional meetings or events with funders in partnership with development and program leaders.
Contribute to funder engagement through thoughtful stewardship gestures such as handwritten notes and invitations to DSST events.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Organizational Support (15%)
Partner with the broader development team on cultivation events fundraising campaigns and annual giving efforts.
Participate in DSST-wide efforts to support enrollment staff engagement and student celebrations (e.g. Senior Signing Day).
Collaborate with Home Office teams to share and celebrate the impact of grants throughout the organization.
Additional Duties(5%)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in English Communications Education Public Policy or a related field. A masters degree is preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience where writing research and/or project management were core responsibilities. Experience in grant writing or within an educational or nonprofit context is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in developing and managing budgetsincluding collaborating with finance and program teams to align financial and narrative elements.
Strong understanding of or willingness to learn all stages of the grant lifecycle: prospecting proposal writing budgeting compliance and reporting.
Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to a range of audiences.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects timelines and deadlines.
Ability to gather and interpret data to support funding proposals and evaluate grant impact.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards and accountability.
Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
A learning mindset intellectual curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence.
