As Manager - Audience Data Analyst for the Wall Street Journals Opinion section you will deliver the critical digital insights and visualizations that help guide audience growth strategy. You will create new dashboards and metrics that support audience segmentation projects. You will also provide daily research support analyze historical and planned articles and collaborate with other teams to develop audience insights. You will also work with the Programming & News Insights teams who are using data science and predictive modeling to help us better engage with our audiences. You will manage a direct report. This is a hybrid role based in New York City and you will report to the Managing Editor Opinion.
Lead WSJ Opinions data analysis strategy and manage a data analyst
Learn about our audience and deliver insights into tangible product and strategy recommendations
Analyze data from new platforms to inform better business decisions and our platform strategy (e.g. Snap YouTube Instagram)
Make decisions that drive product strategy based upon an analysis of readership and subscriber feedback
Assist the Managing Editor with business cases for traffic growth initiatives such as social media posting cadence on main handles and product enhancements
Serve as the liaison between Opinion and senior managers in Product Marketing Finance and Engineering in order to advance implementation strategic initiatives and projects
3 Years data analytics experience including modeling complex data transformations
Experience delivering business insights to senior executive audiences
Ability to distill technical information to non-technical audiences
Advanced SQL proficiency (this will be assessed via technical assessment and interview)
Experience converting raw data into visual insights to help support content decisions
Cloud-based data warehouse experience (i.e. BigQuery)
Experience creating data models and pipelines
Familiarity with product A/B statistical and significance tests
Created project strategy plans that identify tasks milestones and deliverables
Experience with Tableau or Looker
Experience with digital web analytics tools such as Omniture Google Analytics or Chartbeat
Knowledge of Python or R (preferred)
Bachelors Degree -OR- Equivalent Work Experience
