SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Dean School of Behavioral & Community Health

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Faculty in Counseling Programs

POSITION SUMMARY: Twelve-month tenure-track or clinical faculty open rank position to develop and direct counseling programs in the School of Behavioral & Community Health.

This position will be the Director of Counseling Programs housed in the School of Behavioral & Community Health. This School is dedicated to a multicultural/social justice mission and is designed to graduate masters-level license-eligible counselors. The School is planning to develop related service delivery training programs add: in Substance Abuse Counseling and Counseling LatinX populations.

Preferred start date is August 2025. Start date is negotiable but no later than January 2026. Ideally candidates who cannot begin the position in August 2025 will be available for curriculum development assignments as a paid consultant as needed.

The Counseling Programs are housed within the Moravian University College of Health in the School of Behavioral and Community Health (SoBaCH). This school has a mission of training students within a multicultural and social justice framework. The interdisciplinary College of Health emphasizes collaboration and interprofessional education across three units the School of Behavioral & Community Health the School of Nursing and the School of Rehabilitation Sciences (which includes graduate programs in Athletic Training Occupational Therapy Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology). By combining an entrepreneurial spirit and a unique curricular structure students and faculty are able to engage with one another across disciplines in a truly interprofessional educational environment modeled toward best practices in the clinical setting. This collaborative environment is designed to foster student learning and engagement while avoiding the traditional discipline-specific silos that impede learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The individual filling this position will serve as Director of Counseling Programs.
  • The individual in consultation with the Dean will determine and oversee all aspects of the program including but not limited to curricular design course & continuing education development shepherding new curricula through committee approval processes; faculty adjunct and staff supervision budget development program administration programmatic policies student life management marketing and outreach and other duties as assigned.
  • The individual will work with the Dean on School level projects and initiatives.
  • The individual will be proficient in live teaching formats and classroom management.
  • The individual will be proficient in on-line learning platforms hybrid learning and on-line andragogy as well as experienced in educating adult learners in a compressed educational format.
  • The individual will teach within the Counseling Programs and as applicable across the School of Behavioral & Community Health.
  • The individual will have an articulated scholarly agenda (tenure-track only) and clinical areas of expertise.
  • Faculty in the School of Behavioral & Community Health and the College of Health are also expected to collaborate in team-teaching within the program(s) participate in interprofessional education across the School and College and assist in all aspects of program design development implementation assessment and administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned academic doctorate (e.g. PhD PsyD) in Counseling Psychology School Psychology Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Active PA licensure or Eligibility for PA licensure as a Psychologist Counselor or Social Worker.
  • Minimum of five years full-time teaching experience.
  • Minimum of five years full-time clinical experience.
  • Both face-to-face and on-line teaching experience.
  • Clinical supervision experience.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Record of scholarship and a focused research or scholarly agenda. (tenure track only)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated expertise & experience in Substance Abuse Counseling.
  • Demonstrated expertise & experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Demonstrated expertise & experience in community outreach & engagement.
