Job Description

Orange East Supervisory Union (OESU) seeks a dynamic and visionary Director of Curriculum Assessment and Instruction to join our leadership team and help shape the future of education across our exceptional rural schools. Located in the scenic Upper Valley region of Vermont OESU serves a diverse group of communities including Bradford Corinth Groton Newbury Ryegate Thetford Topsham and Wells River. There is a rich sense of history deep community roots and a strong commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and support in all aspects of curriculum assessment and instructional practices across the supervisory union and its 7 schools in four member districts. This full time year round position supervises an instructional coach and teams closely with other leadership positions across the supervisory union to promote and support the Educational Quality Standards supporting the MTSS framework advancing practices that promote student growth and learning supporting continuous improvement and ensuring educational excellence. We are proud of our commitment to proficiency-based learning multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and place-based education that draws on Vermonts stunning natural surroundings and strong sense of Curriculum Director you will support a dynamic group of schools including:Bradford Elementary School (PreK - 6)Newbury Elementary School (PreK - 6)Thetford Elementary School (PreK - 6)Blue Mountain Union School (PreK - 12)Oxbow High School (7 - 12)Waits River Valley School (PreK - 8)River Bend Career and Technical Center (9 - 12 Career & Technical Education)In this role you will collaborate with dedicated educators and leaders to advance curriculum development instructional leadership and professional learning that supports every students growth. Youll help us deepen our focus on whole-child education equity and authentic learning while honoring the identity and strengths of each unique school community.Essential Job FunctionsCurriculum Assessment and Instruction
  • Collaborate with principals and staff to develop and implement curriculum assessments and instructional strategies.
  • Monitor school progress in implementing local curriculum and meeting supervisory union and site-based continuous improvement goals.
  • Ensure alignment with state and federal requirements and maintain expertise in relevant statutes regulations and rules.
  • Prepare required and requested district curriculum reports.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of assessment programs aligned with curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of Proficiency Based Graduation Requirements.
  • Routinely visit schools and classrooms to support curriculum and instructional initiatives.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of professional development activities aligned with instructional priorities.
  • Provide leadership and support to principals in developing and implementing continuous improvement plans.
  • Coordinate analysis of student achievement data to establish annual and multi-year school improvement goals.
  • Evaluate and recommend instructional materials methods and professional development plans; assist in related budget development.
  • Support local assessment plans and conduct non-evaluative learning walks to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Participate in professional organizations to stay current with research and best practices in curriculum and instruction.
  • Remain informed about the latest research on curriculum design implementation and student learning.
Grant Management: Consolidated Federal Program
  • Develops the application of the Consolidated Federal Program maintains and oversees the grant throughout the course of the year.
  • Aligns grant strategies with OESU and schools continuous improvement plans.
  • Advises interested parties of the provisions of the law as related to grants.
  • Monitors spending of strategies within the grant.
  • Attends Vermont Agency of Education professional learning opportunities affiliated with grant.
Community and Leadership
  • Encourage and facilitate community involvement in schools.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to advance the OESU impact plan and strategic goals.
