Job Description
The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: VOIP Manager
Job Description: Develop maintain and improve the speed and reliability of Internet connectivity the district VOIP network and infrastructure. Integrate security and accountability into the VOIP network planning and operation.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide recommendations regarding suitability of new VOIP technologies and if appropriate suggest system migration plans.
- Build and install Internet VOIP software and supporting applications on local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) servers.
- Enhance and upgrade the VOIP network software to improve performance and reliability for LAN/WAN servers.
- Set up configure and manage servers and Voice Gateways.
- Manage daily procedures for the FRPS local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) such as system backups databases and software applications.
- Support school staff in the operation and configuration of VOIP systems.
- Coordinate with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to resolve VOIP router and voice mail related issues.
- Maintain schedules status reports (including resolution logs) and inform the CIO of any system wide problems.
- Document and communicate any issues related to current projects to the CIO.
- Assist with project planning scheduling and oversight of technical implementation of projects.
- Provide users with technical support and staff training on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Chief Information Officer.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS course work in Computer Science or related field.
- 4-5 Years experience in providing technical support in a complex Information Technology (IT) setting similar to the FRPS IT environment.
- Knowledge of network administration on diverse operating system platforms including Local Area Networks (LAN) Wide Area Networks (WAN) Dynamic Host.
- Configuration of CISCO Call Manager and voicemail systems.
- Ability to accept feedback and direction to improve service and operations.
- Ability to manage and direct personnel to perform network service and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to manage workload and delegate tasks to be completed in a timely fashion.
- Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to communicate with users of all proficiency levels.
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
Reports To: Chief Information Officer
Supervises: Networking and designated IT Staff
Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established within an individual contract.
Salary: $60000-$70000
