Job Description
Job title: Performance Test Lead
Location: Chicago IL.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to oversee and manage performance testing efforts across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning designing executing and reporting performance tests to ensure system scalability stability and responsiveness. This role requires hands-on expertise with performance testing tools and a strong understanding of system architecture and bottleneck analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end performance testing lifecycle including planning scripting execution and reporting.
- Collaborate with development QA DevOps and business teams to gather performance requirements and define testing strategy.
- Design performance test plans scenarios and scripts using tools such as LoadRunner JMeter Neoload or similar.
- Execute load stress spike endurance and scalability tests to evaluate system performance under varying workloads.
- Monitor performance metrics using APM tools (e.g. Dynatrace AppDynamics New Relic).
- Analyze test results identify performance bottlenecks and provide actionable recommendations.
- Prepare and present performance test reports to stakeholders with clear insights and improvement suggestions.
- Mentor junior team members and coordinate with offshore/onsite teams as needed.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in performance testing with at least 2 years in a lead role.
- Strong proficiency in one or more performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter LoadRunner Gatling Neoload).
- Experience with performance monitoring tools and log analysis.
- Good knowledge of system architecture databases networks and cloud-based environments.
- Strong scripting knowledge in JavaScript Python or Shell for test automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of performance testing.
- Excellent communication documentation and stakeholder management skills.
