Job Description
This is a remote position.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Full-time; 40 Hours per week
- 9am-6pm or 10am-7pm Melbourne time with 1-hour unpaid break; but may also be required once or twice a week to attend cross timezone meetings with US and UK teams (some start at 5am or 4pm Manila time).

About the Role
Were looking for a highly skilled and pragmatic Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to be a foundational hire in the engineering team. You will be instrumental in guiding the infrastructure strategy standardizing practices and hands-on implementing solutions to ensure the platforms can support rapid growth and evolving client demands. This is a hands-on role where you will both architect and build directly impacting the future scalability and reliability of the company.
Responsibilities:
Audit & Strategize: Conduct a comprehensive audit of current infrastructure (AWS Azure TierPoint) to identify bottlenecks single points of failure and areas for efficiency improvement and cost optimization.
Architect Scalable Solutions: Design and propose resilient cost-effective and highly available infrastructure architectures capable of serving a rapidly increasing number of clients and data volumes.
Hands-on Implementation: Directly implement configure and manage cloud services and on-premise infrastructure. This includes automation CI/CD pipelines monitoring logging and security best practices.
Cloud Cost Optimization: Proactively identify and implement strategies to optimize cloud spend across AWS and Azure.
Standardization & Best Practices: Introduce and champion best practices for infrastructure as code deployment automation security and operational excellence.
Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Work closely with the development team sharing your expertise and guiding them on scalable architecture principles cloud-native development and operational best practices.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for critical infrastructure issues contributing to root cause analysis and preventative measures.
Research & Innovate: Stay up to date with new cloud offerings and infrastructure trends to keep the company ahead of the curve.
Requirements
5 years of experience in a hands-on Cloud/DevOps/Infrastructure Engineering role.
Deep expertise in AWS services (EC2 S3 RDS Redshift Lambda VPC ECS/EKS CloudWatch etc.) and best practices for scaling and cost optimization.
Strong working knowledge of Azure infrastructure and services.
Experience with on-premise infrastructure (e.g. Tierpoint servers) including virtualization networking and storage.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Solid experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash) for automation.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Circle CI Azure DevOps).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable highly available and secure distributed systems.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP DNS VPNs load balancing).
Security-first mindset with experience implementing security best practices in cloud environments.
Problem-solving aptitude with a passion for efficiency and automation.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and mentor junior developers.
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred:
Database administration experience (MySQL NoSQL Azure Cosmos DB).
Previous experience in a consulting or advisory role where you had to assess and propose solutions for various client environments.
