Job Description
About the role & the company- Porter
The company are well-established with a loyal client base and are looking for someone to join their small but busy team. The Porter will be handling a variety of stock items supporting in day-to-day operations and using digital systems to assist with inventory management.
The main responsibilities for the Porter role include but are not limited to:
- Safely handle move and display stock including highly fragile items
- Unloading deliveries storing items assisting with collections and overseeing the off-site disposal of designated items
- Pack unpack and check consignments in accordance with handling best practices
- Catalogue photography and editing
- Ensure items are properly labelled with vendor/stock numbers and stored in the correct area/signposted to correct staff
- Moving stock around the saleroom
- Coordinate the setup and breakdown of viewings and salesroom displays with support
- Operate our internal inventory system/database and other IT software
- Organising inventory efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation
- Support in room set up and client assistance
- Checking delivery and collection appointments to ensure that items are ready
- Providing assistance to the general running of the auction house wherever is deemed necessary
What they offer:
- A starting salary of 23000- 25000 (dependent on experience)
- 21 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
- Shut down between Christmas and New Year (additional to holiday days)
- Working hours Monday-Friday 9-5 with some flexibility required around late deliveries some evenings and very occasionally weekends

Please note that manual lifting and extended periods of physical activity are part of the role. This position requires safe lifting and storing of multiple items up to 20kg independently.
The ideal Porter will have previous experience working in a manual lifting role along with good computer literacy. You will have the ability to take instruction and follow direction have a positive attitude towards work and enjoy working as part of a team.
Perhaps you might have experience as a Warehouse Assistant Healthcare Assistant Removals Assistant or similar.
