About the opportunity

The Regional Partnerships Team operates under the leadership of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Cradle Coast region. This dedicated team provides comprehensive support for community-focused and campus-oriented initiatives fostering a vibrant and inclusive University environment. Their efforts focus on enhancing educational attainment strengthening social connectedness and promoting inclusive economic participation across northwest Tasmania.

The Regional Partnerships Officer works closely with the Manager Regional Partnerships and the Pro Vice-Chancellor Cradle Coast to plan execute and evaluate strategic initiatives aligned with the Universitys Tasmanian Transitions focused on education health climate resilience productivity and celebrating Tasmanian stories. This position is responsible for driving the regional strategic priorities of connection and belonging as well as strengthening and supporting the care workforce across the region. A central aspect of the role is fostering meaningful community engagement with and by the University in northwest Tasmania with the goal of increasing higher education participation among equity cohorts. This requires extensive collaboration with Academic Units Divisional staff and regionally significant organisations businesses and community groups in areas surrounding Burnie and Devonport.

With a strategic focus on community development activities the position encompasses project management administration stakeholder engagement and the planning and facilitation of activities and events. The successful candidate will bring a dynamic skill set that combines expertise in project and event coordination a deep understanding of the barriers and facilitators affecting higher education participation in regional Tasmania and strong capabilities in stakeholder and community engagement.

What youll do:

  • Contribute to strategic planning and help identify priorities and collaborative opportunities to develop and implement locally driven initiatives that bring UTAS staff students and alumni together with key regional external partners in a diverse program of campus-based activities events work and study experiences.
  • Extensive engagement with internal and external stakeholders and the broader northwest regional community to inform and develop activities that best enhance educational aspiration and participation on the Cradle Coast.
  • Identify community needs and opportunities and convey these to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluation and reporting on initiatives projects and events to guide future development and implementation.

What were looking for:

  • Relevant combination of experience in project or event management regional development and/or community engagement preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proven ability and experience in contributing to strategic planning and driving initiatives targeted at the strategic focus areas.
  • Extensive experience in engaging with diverse individual and group stakeholders and mobilising internal stakeholders within complex institutions preferably in a university setting.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment and demonstrated capacity to act independently within established guidelines exercising discretion and sound judgement.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and identify early any areas of concern with potential to impact project outcomes and skills to develop strategies to address these.
  • Ability to work independently and apply existing knowledge of university policies and procedures and community engagement principles to achieve project outcomes.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $126637 comprising base salary within the range of $98473 to $108237 plus 17% superannuation.
