Description

Hennepin County District Court is accepting applications to fill a Court Operations Leadworker I position in the Criminal Traffic Violations Bureau. This position offers an opportunity to work in a diverse professional environment that promotes equity and inclusion for all court staff and court customers. Court Operations Leadworkers perform highly advanced detail-oriented technical work while delivering excellent customer service in person electronically and by phone. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with justice partners court staff attorneys judges and members of the public. Responsibilities include assisting the public and agency representatives by providing accurate information and clear explanations of court rules and procedures.


The Violations Bureau involves high-volume customer contact at the public counter including completing financial transactions such as daily balancing reconciling deposits and assessing fees and fines. Work includes all aspects of citation processing payments advanced criminal case processing scheduling and performing clerical tasks within well-established standardized data entry methods and procedures.

Example of Duties

  • Act as a primary technical and procedural resource for District Court and partnering agency staff
  • Provide daily support and work direction to staff including reviewing work for timeliness accuracy and compliance
  • Address questions related to business processes and justice agencies
  • Update cases using court systems for case management and electronic filing
  • Perform daily financial functions including balancing tills and entering complexadjustments in the courts case management system
  • Maintain statistical data as required and monitor daily quality assurance reports
  • Comply with data privacy standards while utilizing the Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) system to discuss potential impacts of citations on court customers drivers license status
  • Maintain training materials online procedures and workflow queues
  • Participate in and provide feedback on pilot projects assigned to the department
  • Develop training schedules for employees; provide initial and ongoing training to new and existing staff
  • Maintain and distribute weekly assignment schedules; independently make day-to-day adjustments in staff assignments due to business needs including providing back-up where needed
  • Attend and facilitate team and committee meetings
  • Provide effective leadership coaching and mentorship to Violations Bureau staff consistently acting as a positive role model to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment
  • Provide exceptional customer service for internal and external customers addressing escalated concerns as needed

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience as a Court Operations Associate Leadworker or equivalent
  • Two years of experience providing exceptional customer service and deescalating situations

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize work meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with division staff while planning and coordinating daily assignments
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly both orally and in writing
  • Experience developing procedures and training materials
  • Adaptable to changes in workload job assignments procedures technology and priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Adobe and SharePoint; ability to learn other job-related software
  • Proficient in problem solving including consulting various resources
  • Considerable knowledge of court procedures and policies laws legal terminology and legal factors pertaining to the court
  • Excellent listening and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or post-secondary education
  • Experience with relevant criminal processes including the ability to read judicial orders and update criminal cases in the courts case management system
  • Experience providing training in a classroom or group setting
  • Considerable knowledge of court procedures and policies laws legal terminology and legal factors pertaining to the court

Supplemental Information
Logistics

The Violations Bureau is located on the Public Service Level of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street C-SK-0871. The standard hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.- 4:30p.m. Monday-Friday; however hours may vary depending on division needs.

Salary Range
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $23.10 per hour and may be higher depending on position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible forState of Minnesota employee benefits.
