Job Summary:
The Pulmonary Function Technician is a specialized healthcare professional who plays an essential role in the diagnosis and management of patients with respiratory conditions. They are adept at conducting a variety of pulmonary function tests which are essential in assessing lung capacity volume flow rates and gas exchange. These diagnostic tests provide invaluable data that help physicians develop effective treatment plans for conditions such as asthma chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory disorders
Qualifications
Associates Degree in Respiratory Care or a related field
Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) credential
Experience in a medical or clinical laboratory setting
Proficiency in using pulmonary function testing equipment
Knowledge of respiratory diseases and treatments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience in pulmonary function testing
Understanding of medical terminology and respiratory physiology
Technical proficiency with medical diagnostic equipment
Ability to follow detailed protocols and procedures
Empathy and ability to work with patients of all ages
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist patients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
