As our Claims Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all claims. The role involves assessing and resolving claims efficiently ensuring compliance with each countries local laws and protecting the financial interests of the Company. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and fair claim processes. This is a role with plenty of growth opportunity for someone who is looking for a long-term career.
Here is some of what you will be doing:
Take Charge of Claims Oversight
- Manage end-to-end claims processes involving cargo damage loss or delays
- Investigate incidents determine liability and liaise with surveyors insurers and key stakeholders
- Lead settlement negotiations ensuring timely fair and cost-effective outcomes
- Maintain detailed compliant recordsand uncover trends to support smarter risk strategies
Make a Real Financial Impact
- Work closely with our Leadership Team to reduce financial exposure from claims
- Track and analyse claim costs to spot savings and improve forecasting
- Ensure all claim-related financial provisions are accurately captured and up to date
Stay Ahead of Compliance
- Keep us compliant with maritime regulations across multiple regions including NZ AU the Pacific Islands and Singapore
- Stay informed on maritime and insurance law/international conventions that affect claims handling
Be a Trusted Contact for Customers & Partners
- Serve as the go-to person for all claim-related queriesclear calm and solutions-focused
- Coordinate with insurers legal advisors and contractors to bring claims to resolution
- Keep customers in the loop with proactive updates and transparent communication
Identify Risks Drive Prevention
- Spot trends in claims and recommend operational improvements
- Collaborate with risk and ops teams to prevent recurrence of costly issues
- Help enhance shipping and logistics workflows to minimise damage and loss
Qualifications :
Must-Haves Your Key to Success!
- Experience in claims management (preferably within the insurance logistics transport or marine industries)
- Deep knowledge of global shipping practices insurance processes and relevant legislation
- Strong analytical negotiation and communication skills
- A methodical mindset paired with a proactive people-first approach
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to make the hard calls where required
- Strong time management skills
This is a full-time permanent role based in our Parnell office (although consideration may be given to Singapore or Australia). You will have the right to live and work in New Zealand or Australia at the time of applying. The successful candidate may be subject to undergo a Police Check and/or Pre-Employment Drug Test.
