Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead strategic aircraft proposal initiatives focusing on aircraft specifications engineering and collaboration with aircraft OEMs. This role will drive the execution of aircraft projects ensuring alignment with Qantas fleet and operational strategy. Reporting into the Operations Delivery Team in Engineering you will be responsible for the front-end management of Aircraft Project workstreams associated with the group fleet renewal and refresh initiatives.

This high-visibility role will involve leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic project environment ensuring seamless aircraft entry into service and delivering innovative solutions that enhance our fleets capability and customer experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives to achieve strategic business objectives in relation to projects and change management
  • Designs and develops plans to shape prioritise and resource projects/programmes to ensure they fit in with overall business strategy
  • Develops and oversees mechanisms to track and report on the progress against objectives of projects/programs in order to monitor success and provide updates
  • Set policies for third party engagements and measure the effectiveness of suppliers to ensure relationship and contractual obligations are met
  • Act as the authority across all issue escalation channels for all relevant programme / project stakeholders
  • Oversee the continuous review and improvement of project management policies systems and processes to ensure they are fit-for-purpose
  • Partners and closely collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure success of projects programs and change initiatives
  • Provides leadership coaching and mentoring to the team to ensure their growth development and performance

Youll have:

  • 10 years aviation project experience
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant professional qualification e.g. professional accreditation in project management
  • Significant project and programme management experience with evidence of balancing a customer and a commercial focus
  • Proven cost management political and planning skills
  • Strong aviation project background with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven leadership in a matrix environment and ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships
  • Experience developing and delivering Lean/Agile change management strategic plans
  • Strong commercial and organisational awareness analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to facilitate steering groups and cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of aircraft project development and execution
