Description

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for a full timeSurgical Clinical Assistant based in our Northeast Philadelphia office! This position is designed to support one of our Hand & Wrist Surgeons and will require travel to our offices in Bensalem and Newtown PA.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM

Pay Range for Certified Medical Assistant: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour

Pay Range for Athletic Trainer: $48000 to $70000 annually

Job Summary:

The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physicians Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple removal post-op wound care pre-admissions testing orders responding to patient calls and messages and more. Qualifications:

  • Active national medical assistant certification OR BOC Certification AND PennsylvaniaAthletic TrainerLicense required
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
  • Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office
  • Experience with EMR system(s) preferred

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.
  • Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
  • Maintains order cleanliness and inventory in the exam room and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
  • Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
  • Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physicians review.
  • Records vitals as per Physicians request.
  • Prepares injections for the Physician.
  • Pulls up x-rays MRIs CTs and various studies pertaining to the patients exam.
  • Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
  • Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
  • Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
  • Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
  • Empties and restocks laundry.
  • Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
  • Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports dictations and studies are present in the chart.
  • Completes pre-certifications for MRIs and other Physician orders as necessary.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative.
  • Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders prescriptions etc. on the date of service).
  • Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
