Wilson College is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Disability Services Advisor and Success Coach to join our academic success team. This important role combines academic coaching for students receiving accommodations with oversight of the Colleges accommodation program. The advisor ensures compliance with disability laws works closely with faculty and staff and connects students with the tools they need to succeed academically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Disability Services Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Manage the colleges accommodation process including intake assessment and communication with students and faculty.
  • Maintain and update accommodation request forms and related documentation.
  • Proctor exams and coordinate testing accommodations.
  • Process short-term medical accommodation requests as needed.
  • Maintain assessment data and track effectiveness of accommodations.
  • Provide ongoing professional development on disability-related laws and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Residential Life for housing accommodations.
  • Educate students and families on available services.

Success Coach Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive student success coaching to all assigned students on caseload.
  • Monitor student progress using student management systems; collaborate with faculty and staff as needed.
  • Respond to Early Alerts and stoplight survey results according to established protocols.
  • Meet regularly with First-Year students and coordinate support with First-Year Seminar (FYS) instructors.
  • Support students facing academic challenges (SAP Academic Probation Academic Warning) through structured intervention plans and follow-up.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus services for academic personal or wellness-related concerns.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Academic Success Center leadership and other student support units.
  • Participate in campus events such as orientation admissions and student programs as assigned.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and engage in professional development opportunities as coordinated by the Dean of Student Success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support student success and retention initiatives.

COMPETENCIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of disability laws and higher education compliance
  • Experience in managing confidential student records interpreting documentation and accommodation requests
  • Strong communication counseling and organizational skills to track progress and outcomes
  • Experience supporting a broad spectrum of student needs
  • Comfort using student information systems or case management software
  • Ability to collaborate across departments

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Full-time regular office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Some work during evenings and weekends may be required.

TRAVEL:

  • Minimal travel; may attend professional development conferences.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in Education Higher Education Administration Counseling or related field required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in academic advising student success coaching or related role.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

ADDITIONAL ELGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of early alert systems and academic recovery planning is desirable.
