Overview:
A well-established and ISO 13485:2016 certified manufacturer located in Crystal Lake Illinois is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join its growing operations team. This organization is globally recognized for its expertise in the design and manufacture of digital radiography accessories for the Medical Veterinary and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) sectors.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement process inventory control supplier relationships and supporting the companys overall operational efficiency and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee assign and approve purchase orders
- Generate and manage purchase orders ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain supplier relationships and manage backorders
- Execute pricing negotiations and long-term agreements with suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain scorecards
- Conduct periodic supplier reviews and site visits
- Coordinate with production to ensure workflow alignment and material availability
- Perform inventory reporting and participate in regular inventory counts
- Record and maintain purchasing data in ERP and Salesforce systems
- Ensure compliance with ISO and quality standards across procurement activities
- Support cross-functional teams on costing and sourcing projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Operations Logistics or related field
- 5 years of experience in a similar purchasing/procurement role within manufacturing
- MRP/ERP system experience (Great Plains or Sage preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and bills of materials
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUP charting automation)
- Excellent communication negotiation and analytical skills
- Experience working in small company environments (50 employees or fewer)
- Resides within 45 minutes of Crystal Lake IL or willing to relocate at own expense
Preferred Qualifications:
- APICS or related supply chain certification
- Experience in the medical device manufacturing industry
- Exposure to payables processes
