Job Description

The Sr Specialist Financial Education position resides on the Audience & Experiential Engagement team at Thrivent and reports to the Director of Financial Education.

This individual contributor role is responsible for the design development and delivery (with an emphasis on presentation/facilitation) of various financial education content and experiences (group presentations interactive workshops recorded content etc.) aimed at improving the financial well-being and understanding of individuals and communities in alignment with Thrivents purpose and strategy.

The Sr Specialist Financial Education uses client insights and industry trends informed by adult learning behavioral science and societal impact to nudge audiences to change behaviors in an innovative meaningful and measurable way.

The role will present financial education content across a variety of audiences and segments including: college-aged early/mid-career retiree/pre-retiree employees church leaders and congregations community groups with particular focus on diverse and younger communities.

The work of the Financial Education team plays a critical role in part of a larger overarching Growth & Generosity client engagement strategy which works across distribution channels with marketing campaigns education and other related initiatives to ensure client segment needs are met. The client-centric strategically and fraternally aligned programming and initiatives create and nurture long-term client relationships generosity programs and offerings.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leverage market data client insights and community trends to identify content and topics for financial education experiences.
  • Present/Facilitate to a variety of audiences including college-aged early/mid-career Thrivent employees church leaders and congregations with a particular focus on diverse and younger communities.
  • Support development and creation of innovative experiential accessible learning opportunities based in adult learning human-centered design and behavioral science research.
  • Motivate and nudge audiences to change behavior by incorporating tools and encouraging action.
  • Track a variety of financial knowledge and health outcomes to prove long-term societal impact.
  • Incorporate a financial coaching mindset to build trust provide personalized support and give appropriate guidance when necessary.
  • Track industry trends to advance offerings and programming offering best-in-class content.
  • Support partner development engagement and execution efforts through Thrivents deployed teams and local grassroots networks.
  • Model Thrivents leadership competencies by fostering engagement bringing expertise demonstrating courage & resilience and building trusting partnerships.
  • This role will present to a variety of audiences (including but not limited to college-aged mid/early career retiree/pre-retiree Thrivent employees church leaders and congregations etc.) and support and develop bodies of work that require expertise in personal finance content design and development. The role will manage projects work streams and collaborate with a variety of cross-functional teams focused on strategic partnerships and the execution and delivery of financial education content.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:

  • Experience working with varied audiences of all ages
  • Proven demonstrated dynamic speaker/presenter with 3 years of experience
  • Financial coaching certification (CCUFC AFC CPFC CFT CFEI or other) with 3 years of active financial coaching for individuals and groups across a variety of audiences
  • 3 years of experience in personal finance financial wellness financial coaching training/facilitation
  • Ability to integrate needs assessment into strategy
  • Excellent consultative and relationship skills
  • Team player capable of working with success across diverse functional areas
  • Proven experience applying and implementing experiences informed by human-centered design principles
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication/presentation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual learning
  • Ability to travel regularly (average 1-2 times monthly) and with flexibility in weekly schedule

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of financial services industry fraternal benefit societies or membership organizations
  • Familiarity with church (Church of God in Christ and other diverse Christian denominations) non-profit and community organizations and their leaders
  • Experience with change management processes and implementation
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $83934.00 - $113559.00 per year which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to location relevant experience skills and knowledge business needs market demand and other factors Thrivent deems important.
