Job Description

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

SCHOOL YEAR 2025-2026

POSITION: High School Counselor and Campus Testing Coordinator

LOCATION: Paul H. Pewitt High School

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience education and background

CONTRACT PERIOD: 12 months (220 days)

Position Summary:Serve as a vital student advocate and support system providing comprehensive guidance services to help students navigate their academic personal and social development during their high school years

  • Collaborate with students families teachers and administrators to develop individualized plans for academic success and post-graduation readiness
  • Deliver individual counseling group sessions and crisis intervention services to address diverse student mental health and developmental needs
  • Maintain confidential student records coordinate referrals to community resources and ensure compliance with school policies
  • Design and implement school-wide guidance programs college and career fairs prevention workshops and student orientation activities
  • Serve as testing coordinator for grades 9-12 overseeing standardized testing procedures and accommodations
  • Support students through college application processes scholarship opportunities and career exploration activities

Position Requirements

Masters Degree in School Counseling

Valid School Counselor Certification

Experience:

At least two years of teaching experience

One year of high school counselor experience preferred

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of counseling procedures and confidentiality
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Able to teach others and speak publicly
  • Trained in trauma-informed care crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
  • College admission process knowledge and scholarship guidance
  • Academic planning and course selection expertise
  • Understanding of graduation requirement and testing procedures
