Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Place and Economy team is responsible for promoting supporting and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders within Cumberland City Council.
We have an exciting opportunity within our Place and Economy team for a dynamic Business & Investment Officer who will support and assist in the development and delivery of engagement and marketing plans in support of the local business and services community. This role will also assist with the promoting of investment across the Cumberland City local government area..
Reporting to the Coordinator Economic Development this role works closely in partnership with stakeholders including the local business community government and non- government organisations to promote the Cumberland City local government area as an attractive commercial destination.
The successful applicant will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g. Business Marketing Economics Communications Marketing Media Tourism management Destination development) and/or experience in a similar role
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts
- Ability to effectively negotiate outcomes with internal and external stakeholders
- Commercially minded full of ideas and passionate creative ability to think innovatively
- Support the delivery of projects on time and on budget
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate ability to preparereports
- Well-developed research analytical skills and ability to work independently and as a team
member - Experience in supporting planning delivering and events (e.g. networking events)
- Class C drivers licence.

About this role:
- Permanent full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
- Located at Councils Auburn office with frequent travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1714.07 to $1971.18 per week plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role

What youll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process in accordance with Councils COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
