Job Description

Title: NSU Head Baseball Coach

State Role Title: Professional - Lecturer

Job Duties

The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all facets of a competitive Division I baseball program. Key duties include but are not limited to:
Designing and implementing effective coaching strategies and practice plans.
Recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes.
Scouting opponents and developing game plans.
Supporting academic success retention and graduation of student-athletes.
Monitoring compliance with NCAA MEAC and university rules and regulations.
Managing program budgets and team travel.
Developing relationships with alumni donors and community stakeholders to support fundraising and promotional efforts.
Promoting sportsmanship team unity and an inclusive culture of respect and accountability.
Supervising assistant coaches and staff.
Fostering the holistic development of student-athletes on and off the field.

The Head Coach must maintain a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and travel for recruiting and competition. The position requires physical activity consistent with coaching including lifting and carrying equipment and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional playing experience.
A minimum of seven years of collegiate or professional coaching experience.
Demonstrated success in recruiting and student-athlete development.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and a record of compliance.
Strong leadership organizational and communication skills.
A successful criminal background check is required.

Additional Considerations

Previous NCAA Division I head coaching experience.
Ten years of coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level.
Established recruiting ties in the Mid-Atlantic region especially within Virginia.
A track record of competitive success and program development.
