Position Description:
The Network Support Specialist is responsible for the support maintenance and installation of the wired and wireless networks that includes the copper and fiber network infrastructure. The Network Support Specialist is also responsible for the Wide Area Network (WAN) / Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) infrastructure. The Network Support Specialist independently anticipates technological challenges and opportunities by developing and maintaining the districts network and communications infrastructure and by providing direct technical assistance to district employees. The position can require extend or on call work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational routine.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Works closely with the Executive Director of Technology the Director of Technology the Data Center staff the Help Desk Tech Support team the Cameras System staff and the Telecommunication staff schools and the Facilities Department.
- Continuously monitors the health of the network 24x7x365 and responds accordingly to ensure all sites have connectivity including Internet and Telecommunication services. This includes an early morning check-in and network status report to the Executive Director of Technology.
- Installs maintains and removes network infrastructure equipment as needed.
- Ensures that the Technology Infrastructure Standards are followed on all projects.
- Works with providers to ensure reliable connectivity to all locations at all times.
- Escalates issue with providers as required to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Provides scope of work for new installations changes and removal of all network infrastructure equipment as needed.
- Works closely with the Facilities Department on facility projects that involve the addition or removal of technology network infrastructure.
- Creates a customer service-oriented culture in the Jefferson Parish Schools.

Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented independent and possess:
- Bachelors Degree preferred in Computer Science or a computer related field; or the equivalent course work or technical experience.
- HighschoolgraduateorGED
- A certification or equivalent
- Working knowledge of IP Addressing and Subnets.
- Microsoft Certification preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce reports for management.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Knowledge of computer hardware software and networking infrastructure.
- Documented experience with the following operating system: MS
- Prior experience with fiber and Ethernet
- Prior experience with maintaining a WideAreaNetwork (WAN) / Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) network.
- Network Certification Microsoft Certification
