Job Description
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW
The main function and purpose of this position is to oversee and ensure the smooth operation of the plants production facilities. The incumbent is also responsible for promoting Air Liquides quality and safety objectives. Successful candidates must be able to work alone on rotating 12-hour shifts alternating day and evening including weekends.1. Operates plant: Operates air separation plant and pipeline back-up system. Ensures safe start-up operation and shut-down of plant operations. Loads and unloads trucks and railcars with oxygen nitrogen and argon. Ensures compliance with procedures established by the Large Industries Group Quality System. Conducts tests to verify plant performance as required.
2. Oversees equipment maintenance: Makes recommendations to the supervisor based on observations of equipment operation. Ensures periodic monitoring of equipment. Is familiar with the properties of industrial gases and cleaning methods for the oxygen department. Supervises subcontractors as needed. Responds to equipment breakdowns. Undertakes small maintenance projects according to skills and with supervisors approval.
3. Safety/Quality: Respects the wearing of protective equipment. Pays particular attention to lock-out procedures and those concerning access to confined spaces. Participates in maintaining plant emergency procedures. Acts as first responder in emergency situations in the absence of the supervisor and initiates appropriate communications. Participates in safety meetings and contributes to the achievement of departmental safety objectives. Reports safety issues to the supervisor. Knows and complies with all procedures specified in the plants Quality Manual.
4. Ensures administrative follow-up: Completes and forwards all incident reports. Completes daily production data reports in the system and required plant statements.
5. Process improvement: Works with team and cross-functional teams to continuously improve work processes. Analyzes activity identifies causes of problems and proposes appropriate corrective actions.
Are you a MATCH
Diploma: DEC or CEC in chemical process technology DEC or CEC in instrumentation and control DEP in industrial mechanics DEP in electromechanics secondary 5 with relevant experience in these fields of expertise.
Knowledge: Compressed and cryogenic gases computerized systems oral and written communication skills mathematical skills WHMIS handling and transportation of hazardous materials. Must have knowledge regarding the air separation process and refrigeration units.
Previous experience in a 24/7/365 environment chemical process environment (an asset)
