JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Student Disability Resources (SDR) is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant for a student who has a mobility impairment taking courses during the Fall 2025 Semester. The individual hired for this role will assist the student with classroom-based writing and materials organization to ensure access to lecture and classroom information. In addition they will also assist with completing homework assignments outside of class. Primary duties include:
Scribe
- Act as a scribe for the student. Handwrite or type the content according to the students exact instructions.
Materials Organization
- Finding and organizing in-class materials (e.g. text. PowerPoint slides problem sets. graphics) for synchronous use with the instructor and class.
- Assisting the student before or after class in meeting with the instructor to get clarification of material and information as needed.
Other
- Other tasks as assigned by SDR.
Requirements:
- Time commitment:
- Attend scheduled class sessions in-person on the Penn State University Park Campus.
- Able to schedule time outside of class to work on course assignments.
- Able to work an estimated 15 to 20 hours per week.
- Previous experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred but not required.
Additional Notes
- All job-related training will be provided prior to the start of the semester.
- The individual hired for this role is not responsible for individually teaching course material.
