EHS Connections Program Crisis Counselor
DESCRIPTION:
To provide high-quality counseling services to students in an alternative program within Everett High School. To deliver differentiated therapy in small group and one-on-one settings to students due to the complexity of emotional and behavioral struggles.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Masters Degree in Counseling or Social Work
- Massachusetts Certification as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of counseling education guidance or social work
- Experience working in an alternative education setting
- Experience working with adolescents using a developmental model which includes delivering services in individual small group and large group settings
- Experience in collaborating with social services agencies
- Strong facilitation and communication skills
- Solid understanding of mental health disabilities and understanding of behavioral intervention strategies
DUTIES:
- Assess/evaluate referred students and provide a written report with recommendations for social-emotional goals and accommodations.
- Plan appropriate Individualized Education Programs for students with disabilities
- Collaborate with all collaterals working with the student
- Monitor student progress and complete progress reports according to the students goals
- Attend IEP meetings.
- Teach and support social-emotional learning.
- Provide individual and group counseling.
- Promote problem solving restorative practices and conflict resolution.
- Reinforce positive coping skills and resilience.
- Promote positive peer relationships and social problem solving.
- Conduct risk assessments as needed to assist families with necessary intervention.
- Effectively communicate with parents/guardians of students.
- Help families understand their childs learning and mental health needs.
- Connect families with community service provided when necessary.
- Maintain regular communication with community resources to better provide wrap-around services.
- Attend evaluation team meetings annuals reconvenes manifestations and other student-centered meetings as needed.
- Enhance staff understanding and responsiveness to diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Collect and analyze data on risk and protective factors related to student outcomes
- Provide crisis prevention and intervention services.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to increase knowledge base and skillsas well as maintain licensure.
- Perform other related tasks and duties at the discretion of the administration.

In accordance with the Everett Public Schools Teachers Association Contract.
