About the role
We are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead our Creative Brand Studio a role that demands the rare combination of creative excellence and operational mastery. As the operational leader of our creative function you will build and scale two critical capabilities: an efficient internal creative studio capable of handling high-volume requests and an innovative brand creative team that produces culturally defining work. Youll be responsible for creating the systems processes and culture that enable world-class creative talent to do their best work while delivering at the pace and scale that our mission demands.
This is a foundational leadership role where youll establish the creative operations that will define how Anthropic communicates with the world. Youll work closely with senior leadership to champion the strategic importance of design and creativity while building the infrastructure to execute flawlessly across a diverse portfolio of creative challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead Anthropics internal Creative Brand Studio from the ground up establishing both operational excellence and reinforcing the already strong creative leadership
- Review and build upon existing operational systems to enable high-volume high-quality output while preserving the conditions for breakthrough creative work working with both internal talent and external agencies
- Develop and manage two distinct but complementary creative capabilities:
- High-Volume Creative Operations: Build systems and workflows to deliver consistent high-quality creative work across a broad range of tactical and strategic projects with efficiency and speed
- Breakthrough Brand Creative: Foster an environment where creative talent can pursue innovative culturally defining work that positions Anthropic at the forefront of design and creative excellence
- Review existing program management frameworks and establish new operational tools and workflows where appropriate eliminating friction for creative talent while maintaining rigorous quality standards
- Partner with senior executives to advocate for the strategic role of creativity and design in advancing Anthropics mission
- Build and leverage an extensive network of creative talent production partners and technology vendors
- Set creative standards and quality benchmarks that reflect Anthropics position as a leading AI company
- Manage creative budgets and resource allocation across projects ranging from high-volume tactical work to breakthrough brand campaigns
- Foster a culture of creative excellence that balances creative ambition with operational discipline
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have 15 years of experience leading high-performing creative organizations with a proven track record of building creative functions within fast-moving technology companies
- Demonstrate deep operational expertise including program management workflow optimization and creative operations at scale
- Have managed complex high-volume creative workflows as evidenced by the scale of budgets team size and variety of creative outputs in previous roles
- Can show evidence of creating environments that produce innovative culturally defining work demonstrated through industry creative awards and your ability to attract and retain world-class creative talent
- Possess extensive knowledge of creative and project management tools (such as Asana) while understanding that technology alone doesnt build effective creative studios
- Have the gravitas and communication skills to champion creativity and design with C-level executives and board members
- Maintain an extensive network within the creative industry including top-tier creative talent production companies and technology partners
- Are calm and unflappable under pressure with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Have experience balancing the tension between creative ambition and operational efficiency ensuring systems serve the work rather than constrain it
Strong candidates may also:
- Have experience working with AI or emerging technology companies where creative work helps translate complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Have led creative teams through periods of rapid growth and scaling
- Have experience managing both internal creative teams and external agency relationships
- Understand the unique challenges of creating compelling creative work in highly regulated or technical industries
- Have a track record of developing creative talent and building creative career paths within organizations
- Have an interest and knowledge of generative AI creative tools while also honoring the hand of the maker

The expected salary range for this position is:
Annual Salary:
$320000 - $400000 USD
Logistics
Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However some roles may require more time in our offices.

And we value impact advancing our long-term goals of steerable trustworthy AI rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. Were an extremely collaborative group and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such we greatly value communication skills.
