Role description:
Arcadis works with multidisciplinary teams on hydraulic maritime and infrastructure projects both domestically and internationally; and we are looking for an structural engineer with proven experience in designing concrete and steel structures. Specific experience with maritime and hydraulic constructions is plus.
As a structural engineer you are the specialist in the field of designing concrete and steel structures such as quay walls jetties docks retaining walls locks and weirs. Your tasks include among other things designing and evaluating this type of structures. On a regular basis you also work on objects in the dry infrastructure such as (movable) bridges tunnels and underpasses. You design and test these works based on current codes standards and guidelines. For that you master the common design software and Finite Element packages such as SCIA and RFEM. Knowledge of Eurocode and other standards is a plus but at the start of your work you will collaborate closely with other colleagues to help you navigate specific aspects of our field.
We are involved in all phases where projects can be from feasibility to execution design. We do this on both the client side as well the contractor side. This makes our work diverse and challenging. Some notable projects that your future team the Water Engineering & Maritime Infrastructure advisory group has worked on are:
- Renovation of the Afsluitdijk the longest levee of the Netherlands
- Storm Surge Barrier Nieuwpoort in Belgium
- Bridges and quay walls in the historic center of Amsterdam
- Many quay walls and jetties in the ports of Rotterdam Amsterdam and beyond
Qualifications & Experience:
As an experienced structural engineer you have an entrepreneurial and professional attitude. You feel at home in a results-oriented environment where your innovative solutions and advice can shine. You are a true team player but you can also work excellently independently. Furthermore you have:
- A master or bachelor in the field of civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering steel or concrete structures;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a structural engineer preferably within maritime and hydraulic infrastructure but other types of infrastructure or buildings are certainly acceptable;
- Experience with SCIA RFEM MathCad;
- Experience with other FEM packages is a plus such as ANSYS DIANA or LS Dyna.
- Affinity for programming is a plus. (Python VB Dynamo)
- Excellent command of the English language both spoken and written.
