Come join us on our trajectory of growth!Teaching at Oliver Middle SchoolOliver Middle School teachers work with a team of diverse colleagues to develop rigorous curricula deliver engaging lessons and support all students in their academic social and emotional wellbeing. Specifically for this math position we are looking for a teacher who deeply understands both the standards and concepts central to 5th grade math as well as someone who is deeply committed to developing the whole child by implementing SEL skills development explicitly and implicitly through their Skills and Characteristics of an Oliver Middle School TeacherA deep desire to work with our students families and communityAn unwavering commitment to the academic success and personal development of our studentsAn eagerness to set ambitious challenging and tangible goals and a relentless drive to achieve themA capacity to remain calm and focused when faced with unexpected challengesResponsibilities:- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in accordance with the schools curriculum and standards.- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.- Utilize effective teaching strategies to facilitate student understanding and engagement in scientific concepts.- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.- Use behavior management techniques to promote a respectful and productive classroom environment.- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success.- Provide academic advising and guidance to students regarding their educational goals.- Provide tutoring and mentoring to students who require additional :- Bachelors degree in Education or related field.- Valid teaching certification in 5-8 math instruction or relevant subject area or willingness to work toward certification in MA; SEI endorsement- Experience teaching math at the elementary or middle level preferred- Knowledge of current educational trends technology and best practices in science education.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations including students with special education needs.- A strong belief in Oliver Middle Schools core values: Resilience Integrity Scholarship Empathy and our Community- Current authorization to work in the United States A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employmentWorking at Oliver Middle SchoolWe know that great staff members directly lead to the success of our students.
