Job Description

4-5 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children s Social Worker to join a dynamic Assessment and Intervention Team.
This role is central to safeguarding children assessing risk and implementing early interventions.
You will work closely with families partner agencies and internal teams to assess needs identify risks and implement care plans that promote the safety well-being and positive outcomes for children and young people.
This position requires a confident practitioner with a strong grasp of statutory responsibilities child development and trauma-informed practice.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Carry out high-quality assessments care planning and child protection investigations in line with legislative and procedural requirements.
Manage a complex and diverse caseload independently with appropriate support and supervision.
Work directly with children and families to achieve positive change minimising the need for separation from families where possible.
Undertake statutory interventions including court proceedings where necessary.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation to a high professional standard.
Provide clear concise and analytical reports for meetings reviews and legal processes.
Promote collaborative multi-agency working to secure the best outcomes for children.
Attend and contribute to case conferences planning meetings and multi-agency discussions.
Ensure effective safeguarding through regular review and risk assessments.
Actively engage in regular supervision training and continuous professional development.
Support colleagues and participate in peer learning mentoring and reflective practice sessions.

Skills/Experience:
Demonstrable knowledge of child development attachment theory and the impact of developmental trauma.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation statutory guidance and safeguarding frameworks.
Experience managing complex caseloads including safeguarding and child protection matters.
Ability to analyse and interpret information to formulate evidence-based decisions and plans.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including producing reports for legal proceedings.
Able to work in partnership with children families carers and professionals to deliver holistic and effective support.
Experience in applying therapeutic approaches such as solution-focused and systemic practice.
Skilled in managing risk promoting child-centred outcomes and using initiative in complex situations.
Committed to equality diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.
Experience coaching or mentoring colleagues.
Understanding of performance frameworks and quality assurance processes.
Knowledge of local authority systems and multi-agency safeguarding procedures.

Additional Information:
Qualified and registered Social Worker (Degree in Social Work DipSW CQSW or equivalent).
A full UK driving licence is required due to the geographical area covered.
