Description

The Grants Manager is responsible for research writing cultivating and reporting for corporate foundation and state agency grants. The Grants Manager will work closely with program leaders to discover and inquire about funding needs and then articulate the need and impact in a compelling and sophisticated manner ensuring integrity in all writing and budget composition. The Grants Manager becomes well-informed by program and fiscal leaders about non-reimbursable expenses and new strategic goals and then uses that knowledge to become an expert in the grant strategy.

The Grants Manager reports to the Vice President of Agency Advancement and works alongside a team of development professionals. The position requires some evening and weekend work about ten times annually to assist support and collaborate with the rest of the Development Team and their goals.This is a Hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days on-site at our Jamaica Plain campus per week.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the position but additional responsibilities may be required. Employees are expected to perform job related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

JOB FUNCTIONS & QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain thorough familiarity of IHCs mission vision values and daily operations to effectively develop integrate and align current and prospective grant-writing strategy
  • Generate revenue through timely submission of well-researched well-written and well-documented grant/funding proposals according to the funders requirements
  • Meet annual goals for revenue and number of applications submitted
  • Exercise strong attention to detail when preparing grant submissions letters of interest/intent and required reports
  • Manage comprehensive grants calendar and deliverables
  • Prepare coordinate assemble and/or deliver private funding proposals government grant applications and renewals for submission
  • Research track and abide by all grant submission and reporting deadlines
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files including grant tracking and reporting
  • Identify public and private funding opportunities solicitations and announcements monitoring various online and print publications and websites for source information at the local and state level remaining current on funding trends and themes
  • Provide technical assistance to staff on interpreting guidelines and regulations related to the submission and administration of grant projects
  • Facilitate post-award meetings with new grant directors to transition grants from the development/award phase to the implementation phase
  • Form grant development teams for larger more complex grant proposals including from government sources and work collaboratively with teams including the CEO to move concept to a final proposal ready for submission
  • Serve as primary liaison to funding agencies and external face of all grant activity
  • Collaborate and support the efforts of other Development Team members and their initiatives

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree required (with coursework in communications composition or similar preferred)
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the Agencys business development and fundraising practices
  • Five years of relative work experience preferably in nonprofit organizations
  • Proficiency with Bloomerang or other fundraising databases preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office required
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strength in managing multiple tasks and deadlines and project management
  • Follow up and follow through on tasks independently with ability to prioritize
  • Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development demonstrated ability to accept and give critical feedback
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
  • A strong and positive representative of the agency in the community
