This is more than just a numbers role- its an essential part of ensuring that the individuals we serve get the care they need and that our financial systems run smoothly and with integrity.
What Youll Do:
Youll be the engine behind our billing operations. That means generating and reviewing billing batches scrubbing errors and working closely with insurance companies and other counties to keep everything moving efficiently. Youll research and correct discrepancies in codes places of service and authorization details-no guesswork here just detailed meaningful work that supports real people.
Youll also manage insurance payments and write-offs keep our clearinghouse information up to date and enter rates into our EHR system to ensure billing accuracy. Beyond that youll handle Medicaid and Non-Medicaid Ability to Pay (ATP) documentation and meet with consumers to explain financial responsibilities helping them navigate the system with clarity and respect.
Insurance verification is another key piece- youll investigate coverage determine eligibility for specific services and make sure our services line up with both private and Medicaid payer rules. Working closely with intake and case management teams youll be the bridge between billing accuracy and client support.
Youll also support staff Medicare enrollments manage CHAMPS entries and calculate the cost of care for residents in group homes. Plus youll be responsible for monthly statements document scanning and keeping up with federal and state billing updates.
Requirements to join us:
We need someone whos organized detail-oriented and comfortable working independently but also a team player who knows how to collaborate across departments. Youll need to be tech-savvy (Microsoft Office is a must) able to maintain confidentiality and skilled at keeping projects on track. A high school diploma is required though wed love to see an associates degree and billing experience. A valid Michigan drivers license is required.

Job Specific Requirements:
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work independently. Previous experience in claims billing is preferred.
