SUMMARY

The Family Services Coordinator (FSC) works directly with families and members of the LFSRM team to help clients obtain the resources and life skills to become self-sufficient through foundational case management. This along with customized resources and services pertaining to digital literacy removal of barriers to transportation via education and technical assistance and or licensure support with childcare and removal of other barriers to improve employability of client. The FSC provides wrap around case management for newly arrived clients primarily within 3 years of arrival in foundational case management and will provide employment support for up to 5 years from date of arrival or until determined ineligible for program services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as an advocate and resource for clients and provides equal treatment to all client groups in accordance with the agencys commitment to the dignity of all persons.
  • Works in collaboration with other LFSRM team members to identify program eligible clients and to assist clients in applying for and obtaining employment childcare and resource navigation support for other services in the agency and or community.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with community partners to provide classes to increase digital literacy Enhanced English Language Training and other supportive services among the refugee community.
  • Conduct individual and group educational sessions on important life skills and barriers to employment identified in the client intake process. Identifies resources in the community to connect clients to and sets up systems and processes to streamline referrals and data collection.
  • Works closely with other LFSRM team members especially with the employment team to conduct all employment department tasks to support employability of clients to ensure upward mobility and self-sufficiency of program participants.
  • Maintains and documents ongoing communication with clients to provide support as needed and assess client progress throughout the period of service. Provides resources and referrals to community partners.
  • Maintains case notes of all contacts with the client and documents all client services in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains high quality case file documentation for various reports with accurate and timely report submissions to demonstrate program success.
  • Participates in community outreach activities pertaining to case management and employment services that advances the work and message of the Refugee and Asylee Programs.
  • Abides by high quality of standards and adheres to service delivery expectations of Lutheran Family Services Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services the State of New Mexico Office of Refugee Resettlement and Department of State.
  • Complies with all federal state county local and LFSRM contracts.
  • Demonstrates an organized and pro-active approach to services to clients program reporting and communication to all agency staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Cross cultural sensitivity and knowledge with the ability and desire to work with people of other cultures some of whom will be limited English speakers.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical functions and to explain to clients for whom English is not the primary language.
  • Functional fluency in one or more foreign languages preferred.
  • Written communication skills ability to write reports and to make presentations.
  • Detail oriented extensive documentation skills organized and able to work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Skills in problem solving negotiations decision making and mediating conflict.
  • Maintains punctuality for work appointments and report dates.
  • Ability to self-start but also works well in a team setting. Can collaborate effectively with others.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications including Word Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and provide proof of auto liability insurance at the level of 100000/300000/100000.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree or two years of college; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no staff supervisory responsibilities but may supervise interns and or volunteer teams to administer services to clients.
