PAY RATE: Up to $16.00 per hour
JOB TYPE: Seasonal Help (Summer) - 6 months
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining Water Works facilities cleaning and painting fire hydrants throughout the city and property maintenance

SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM-3:30 PM for 6 months. Hours will vary based on departmental need.
PAY RATE: up to $16.00 hr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cleans and paints hydrants throughout the distribution system.
Helps maintain Water Works property grounds.
Drives mowers trucks tractors and uses various hand tools related to base maintenance.
Hauls dirt debris and waste.
Assists crew with Water Works repair.
Submits safety essay for Evan Sears Scholarship Award.
Keeps daily log sheet.
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent education.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to follow directions and always implement safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedules.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
Ability to understand follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees supervisors and the public.
Ability to lift and/or move 100 pounds.
CERTIFICATES LICENSE REGISTRATION:
Valid Drivers license required.
EQUIPMENT:
Lawn tractor weed eater utility truck calculator personal computer with keyboard and internal software telephone fax and Photocopier.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quite loud. Employees must always wear an issued safety shirt and safety glasses.
