In this role youll lead our strategy to build a stronger more inclusive tech workforce across the entire state. Youll bring together employers educators and government partners to design and deliver programs and thought leadership that help Hoosiers enter and thrive in high-demand tech careers. As TechPoints lead on workforce and economic development youll guide our talent initiatives manage a mission-driven team and represent us in key conversations at the local state and national level. TechPoint is actively reevaluating its tech talent strategy in response to rapid changes in the marketplace. Recent surveys and one-on-one interviews with stakeholders have provided valuable insights into the evolving needs of Indianas tech workforce. With this data in hand we are working closely with our internal team and external partners to refine our approach. In this role you will join us at a pivotal moment helping to shape and execute a refreshed talent strategy based on real stakeholder input and current workforce trends.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Alignment Across Stakeholders
- Cultivate alignment between employers education providers and government entities to collectively respond to the evolving tech talent landscape.
- Collaborate with employers to drive adoption of innovative holistic workforce practices and skills-based hiring.
- Build strong partnerships within education community and government.
Thought Leadership & Insights
- Serve as a leading voice on workforce and economic development contributing insights at local state and federal levels.
- Work with Ascend and the research team at the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership to produce tech workforce studies and educate the community on key findings.
Employer Engagement & Industry Advocacy
- Subject matter expert on talent strategy supporting Indiana employers in addressing critical tech workforce challenges.
- Support the Engagement Team by building upon their strong relationships with member employers by understanding their talent needs and co-create solutions.
- Lead efforts to define future tech talent needs including evolving job roles and emerging skill requirements.
- Influence employers to adopt modern workforce best practices such as hiring early-in-career talent embracing nontraditional candidates and maturing workforce development programs.
Team Leadership & Cross-Organizational Collaboration
- Lead and grow a high-performing mission-driven talent team
- Oversee team ensuring efficient use of resources (including budget) and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Contribute to strategic planning organizational leadership and a collaborative leadership team culture.
- Partner with fellow Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) initiatives to design and execute joint talent strategies that drive collective impact.
Program Development & Impact
- Lead the development and refinement of workforce programs that align with industry defined needs.
- Define TechPoints role and revenue models within talent programs and initiatives.
- Oversee TechPoint programs and initiatives that educate recruit develop and retain talent to create a motivated and prepared Indiana tech workforce pipeline.
- Ensure all talent programs and initiatives achieve desired measurable outcome driven impact.
REQUIREMENTS - 10 years of previous working experience as a director or vice president leading employer or workforce talent development initiatives with strong understanding of the tech workforce landscape. Preference given to candidates that have a background within the tech industry.
- Prior experience designing and managing large-scale equity-driven workforce or talent programs. Understanding both the supply (talent from education pathways) and demand (employer needs).
- Willing to work events falling within non-traditional hours (such as evening hours for community events a couple of times a month) and/or weekends (Saturday programming for example a few times a year).
- Able to travel throughout the state and in rare instances throughout the country.
