Location: Gosport Hampshire
Salary: Grade 5 (27711 - 30060)
Contract: Full-time Permanent

Join us at Gosport Borough Council as an IT Network Support Assistant and be part of our journey as wedevelop our operational IT services ensuring robust secure and innovative digital delivery across the Council. We are looking for an individual with ICT experience and some network knowledge who can hit the ground running.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Developing knowledge of a range of cabling and connectivity.
  • Learning to build prepare and maintain equipment
  • Installing PCs laptops and desktop hardware and assist in on-boarding officers with laptops.
  • Resolving network user issues and providing support for MS desktop operating systems.
  • Developing and maintaining a database of all Council hardware and software
  • Assist with monitoring the performance of the network and in planning capacity and server infrastructure.
  • Developing a sound understanding of cyber threats and tools / techniques available to monitor and secure an IT environment.
  • Undertaking and helping with various research and projects

About You:

You will bring a blend of leadership technical knowledge and collaborative skills including

  • NVQ L3 in IT with network experience
  • An awareness / experience of IT infrastructure including cloud based technologies including Microsoft 365 and Azure together with an understanding of virtual technologies and their use.
  • A logical mind with good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with customers whilst recognising individual levels of IT literacy.
  • Ability to work independently using initiative.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
