Job Summary:
The Auto Body Estimator is responsible for assessing vehicle damage and preparing accurate timely repair estimates. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and insurance adjusters ensuring a smooth and transparent repair process from drop-off to delivery. The estimator coordinates with technicians parts departments and insurers to facilitate high-quality efficient collision repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect damaged vehicles to assess repair needs and write detailed damage estimates using estimating software
Communicate with customers to explain repair processes timelines and cost estimates.
Submit and negotiate estimates with insurance adjusters to obtain approvals.
Order and track parts in coordination with the parts department.
Keep customers updated on repair status and any changes to the timeline or cost.
Review final repairs to ensure quality and accuracy before customer delivery.
Maintain organized repair files including photos notes and documentation.
Assist with scheduling repairs and managing shop workload.
Ensure compliance with OEM repair procedures and shop safety standards.
Provide excellent customer service maintaining CSI scores and return business.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in automotive repair or estimating preferred.
2 years of experience in estimating or collision repair.
Proficiency in estimating software .
Familiarity with DRP (Direct Repair Program) guidelines and insurance processes.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Attention to detail time management and organizational skills.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
Working Conditions:
Full-time MondayFriday.
Shop/office environment; some time spent inspecting vehicles in various weather conditions.
May require standing bending and lifting up to 25 lbs.
