Basic Job Functions:
- Nucor Towers & Structures (NTS) has an opening for the position of Environmental Coordinator for the West Hazleton PA facility. Duties include taking a lead role in environmental compliance at our greenfield and temporary operations facilities driving permit applications project management training maintaining required emergency contingency plans and community outreach programs. As a Nucor facility a focus of the position is looking for opportunities to improve our operations culture and environmental footprint.
- The Environmental Coordinator will report to the EHS Supervisor and be a part of multiple teams within Nucor: NTS Group EHS and Nucor Environmental Team. Positive interaction with teammates to promote a positive environmental and safety culture is required.
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:Four-year degree from an accredited university in environmental or a related discipline.
Detailed Selection Criteria:
- Environmental Compliance: The ability to initiate lead and uphold safety and environmental practices policies procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Communication Skills: The ability to listen to and understand information and expectations and effectively convey information and ideas in a way that others will understand.
- Organizational/Project Management Skills: The ability to be attentive to detail organized and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analyze/Strategic Thinking: Experience in analyzing a situation and reviewing related information in order to identify problems quickly and accurately evaluate options make decisions and implement solutions. Teamwork: The ability to work cooperatively and proactively to help others and work as part of a coordinated effort to achieve a common goal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four-year degree from an accredited university in engineering preferably environmental chemical civil or a similar environmental program.
- RCRA waste generation storage and proper disposal knowledge
- Two (2) years of experience in environmental compliance air pollution control waste management and/or wastewater treatment operations. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations (air water EPCRA DOT and hazardous waste).
