Job Description

Introduction

Aeris is an ASX listed diversified mining and exploration company with copper and gold operations across Australia. Our expanding portfolio of operating mines development projects and exploration prospects make Aeris an exciting growing company.

As part of achieving our goals we have a newly created Brisbane based position of Senior Environmental Advisor reporting to our Principal Environment and Closure. This role is a key member of the Aeris Resources Sustainability team that provides technical and expert advice governance and compliance support to our operation mines investments projects and studies.

This role will work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders supporting Aeris goals excellence in environmental practice and compliance and long term sustainability.

What youll do

  • Support Aeris operations with life of asset planning permitting and compliance. Provide advice on legislative requirements and support operations with required studies for environmental permitting amendments.
  • Support new projects with scoping and permitting requirements. Provide strategic advice on legislative requirements and project manage environmental impact assessments.
  • Provide technical support and oversight for the management of environmental compliance obligations and risks for Aeris sites.
  • Provide advice to operations on appropriate environmental management strategies to support compliance and their licence to operate.
  • Support the design and implementation of monitoring programs and review performance with operations teams.
  • Participate in environmental audits and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Report environmental performance at a group level. Develop environmental KPIs and measuring group level progress.
  • Oversee and support rehabilitation and closure studies and activities at Aeris operations.
  • Interpret legislation government regulations and provide informed commentary improvement opportunities and identification of environmental risk. Provide regular advice on these matters to Aeris.
  • Liaise with Government stakeholders in relation to areas of accountability.
  • Where appropriate participate in and/or lead investigations into environmental incidents and regulatory non-conformances to identify root-causes and drive continuous improvement correction and preventative actions.

What you bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management.
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Experience in engagement with regulators
