Reporting to the Director the Estimation Student is responsible for reviewing project plans specifications and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements. The Estimation Student will also conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates.What Youll Be Working On
Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. Well help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging fun and supportive work environment.
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-month co-op position starting in September 2025. This position will be based out of Mississauga Ontario.

Responsibilities:
Review project plans specifications and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates.
Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates including labor materials subcontractor quotes and other project costs.
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals including organizing and compiling all relevant estimating information.
Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids and proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases historical data and estimating resources to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimating practices.
Support the estimating team in tracking and reporting on project bids opportunities and market trends.
Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input and support on estimating-related matters.
Stay up to date with industry trends construction technologies and best practices in estimating.
Who We Need On Our Team
You are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program such as Construction Management Civil Engineering or equivalent program
You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
Ability to forge grow and maintain positive relationships

Residency or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
