POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Director Financial Reporting plays a crucial role within the Corporate Finance Group and will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy integrity and timeliness of all aspects of the quarterly close process. The Director role is essential in supporting the strategic future of the Corporate Finance Department and will lead and develop a high-performing Financial Reporting team. The ideal candidate brings proven management experience across both personnel and financial reporting functions is highly organized and detail-oriented and demonstrates strong analytical technical and problem-solving skills. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment drive process improvements and build strong cross-functional relationships across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversee quarterly balance sheet and income statement close activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Lead Worldwide Insurance Segment reporting efforts including the production of Worldwide MD&A and all supporting schedules along with analyzing and summarizing results; Collaborate closely with the UK team to facilitate the exchange of financial data ensuring timely accurate and comprehensive global reporting.
Oversee the preparation of and review the premium receivable aging bad debt Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) analysis ceding commissions Incurred But Not Reported Reserves (IBNR) posting and various other schedules reports analysis and manual journal entries ensuring adherence to accounting policies.
Review and manage preparation of fluctuation analyses for Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements; Review balance sheet scorecards and related review meetings.
Support the preparation of and review of the North America Insurance Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) consolidations SEC reporting and intercompany reconciliations for the Insurance Segment.
Participate in the accurate production and detailed review of corporate finance deliverables.
Prepare analytical reviews of financial statements during closing process and field questions concerning financial results.
Assist others within the department with research of issues that require advanced accounting or system knowledge.
Proactively identify develop and implement process enhancements to drive efficiency and improve reporting accuracy and manage adherence to internal controls and applied awareness of risk areas.
Prepare material for the board of directors.
Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with business unit finance and ceded reinsurance accounting personnel operational executives and managers to facilitate an efficient quarterly close to meet reporting deadlines.
Support Corporate Finance department with adherence to accounting policies SOX and internal/external audit requests and requests from other finance areas.
Lead mentor and develop a high-performing team focused on achieving goals learning and continuous development.
Display teamwork integrity and leadership.
Maintain a proactive focus on personal growth by seeking relevant education training and development opportunities.
Perform additional duties and projects as requested adapting to business needs and priorities.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Dynamic and motivated individual capable of handling complex structured tasks that require close attention to timing and detail as well as unplanned projects and challenges that require effective and unique solutions often in a compressed timeframe
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to apply accounting policy and standards
Knowledge of 21st century finance and accounting software tools and best practices
Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users tailoring the communication to the relevant audience
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions and data analysis tools
Comfortable working across multiple financial systems and applications with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
Strong problem-solving critical thinking analytical organizational multi-tasking and time management skills
Demonstrated leadership people management and development skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

6 years of property and casualty insurance industry experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
MBA/Advanced degree CPA SEC reporting background are beneficial but not required

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$91600 - $123600/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location scope & responsibilities of the role qualifications talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
