Job Description

Greenbush The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Social Work Unpaid Internat Project PLUS in Topeka.

Anticipated Start Date: 08/13/2025.

Job Summary:As part of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Centersmission to expand educational opportunities for all unpaid internships are available to those who desire/require additional experience prior to applying for a paid position. Potential opportunities include but are not limited to the following: Work with a licensed professional to receive clock hours required to meet initial licensure/certification through a college or university. The job description will be designed based on the specific qualifications and professional needs of the Intern. The basic requirements for all internship positions are below.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

A valid drivers license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

  1. Interest in a discipline where Greenbush can offer expertise.
  2. Thoroughexplanation by the candidate of their areaof interest specific needs and time requirements.
  3. Completed application on file with all required attachments explanation by the candidate of their area of interest and specific needs.
  4. Willingness to learn and ability to work collaboratively with Department Director and other colleagues.
  5. Ability to pass the initial screening including a background check drug test and TB test.
  6. Provide own housing travel and other living accommodations.
  7. Willingness to travel on-site if the job is not performed virtually.

Preferred:

  1. The candidates discipline of interest directly intersects with a high priority area of Greenbush.
  2. Candidate already has a basic understanding of their area of interest.
  3. The candidate is proficient in the software needed to adequately complete tasks in their area of interest.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Work with the Department Director to develop individualized goals that meet the needs of both the Intern and Greenbush based on the area of interest and hours of internship.
  2. Demonstrate flexibility in completing assigned tasks as many departments have workloads that shift in priority regularly.
  3. Effectively collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to meet departmental goals.
  4. Effectively utilize software necessary to conduct work.
  5. Adhere to all Greenbush policies and procedures.
  6. If an internship is tied to certification or college credit complete all outside assignments and other requirements necessary for certification or college credit.
  7. Provide feedback on your experience to the Greenbush Executive Team Employee Resources or others if requested.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timely documentation.

  2. Support the mission goals and objectives of the Southeast Kansas EducationService Center (SEKESC).

  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.

  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.

  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.

  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature research and/or practices.

  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.

  9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.

  10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.

  11. Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director designee.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lifting to40pounds.

  2. Manage all job duties with mobility agility and dexterity.

  3. Sit/stand for long periods.

  4. Work in loud/stressful environments.

  5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.

  6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.

  7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.

  8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA-compliant.
