Job Description
Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a Gifted Resource teacher
position available in the division for the school year 2025-2026.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Gifted Resource teacher serves students throughout the division and coordinates the identification and
placement of gifted students; provides support for the classroom teacher in development and delivery of
differentiated curriculum; and works directly with gifted students. The Gifted Resource teacher uses a
collaborative model in working with the principals and teachers to provide services to the students and is a
member of a cadre of teachers who conduct staff development sessions on gifted identification curriculum
and instruction at the school and division levels.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers License with an endorsement in elementary or secondary
education
Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience working with gifted and
high-ability students
Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials
Possesses the ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement
appropriate instruction
Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes collaboration and managing coursework
Create and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse
backgrounds and needs of all students
Communicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
Demonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold a masters degree in Education
Possess an endorsement in gifted education
SALARY: $52832.35 - $85613.64 annually with benefits; commensurate with experience
