The Performance Marketing Manager plays a key role in executing data-driven marketing initiatives that drive customer acquisition lead conversion and ROI for Nelnet Bank. Bridging tactical execution and strategic insight this role is responsible for managing demand generation lead nurturing and conversion optimization campaigns across paid and organic channels. As well as other marketing operations and project management responsibilities to drive business growth.
With a focus on performance measurement and reporting the Performance Marketing Manager II drives website optimization SEO/SEM and paid media performance while serving as the connective tissue between internal stakeholders (e.g. Tech Product Risk/Compliance and Corporate Marketing) and marketing analytics. This role partners closely with the Banks Senior Marketing Manager to align performance data with broader campaign strategies and ensure cohesive customer experiences.
This role currently reports to the Banks Chief Operations Officer (with strong dotted line ties to Corporate Marketing) and is ideal for a data-informed collaborative results-driven marketer ready to grow as a leader and contribute to a start-up Banks success and future.
  • Plan and execute performance marketing campaigns across paid search paid social retargeting display affiliate and email channels to drive qualified leads and improve conversion rates.
  • Manage demand generation programs and lead nurturing workflows through the funnel in alignment with business goals objectives and key results.
  • Track analyze and report on performance marketing Key Process Indicators (e.g. CPL CPA conversion rate) to evaluate campaign effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
  • Own and optimize SEO/SEM tactics and oversee website strategy and performance to enhance visibility engagement and lead flow.
  • Serve as a point of contact for selected partner and affiliate relationships coordinating marketing efforts and campaign collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Bank Technology Product Risk/Compliance and Corporate Marketing teams to implement tracking dashboards and attribution models; translate data into insights for internal stakeholders and business decisions.
  • Coordinate with Compliance team to ensure all outbound communications meet regulatory and brand standards.
  • Manage project timelines and campaign deliverables using tools like Adobe Workfront ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams and record retention.
  • Contribute to continuous testing and optimization efforts including A/B tests for creative audience bidding strategies and landing pages.

**Pay Range for this position is - $80000 to $120000

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent (Marketing or Business preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 years marketing experience preferably in a performance or growth marketing capacity.
  • Banking or FinTech experience preferred.

COMPETENCIES SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Strong ability to analyze campaign data and translate insights into actionable marketing optimizations.
  • Organized and detail-oriented capable of managing multiple campaigns special projects and priorities across teams and vendors.
  • Familiarity with SEO/SEM web performance analytics conversion rate optimization and digital advertising platforms (Google Ads Meta Ads HubSpot Looker Studio).
  • Effective relationship-builder and communicator across Tech Product Risk/Compliance and Corporate Marketing teams; able to manage both technical and business conversations.
  • Ability to connect daily tactics to broader objectives and business goals using data and experimentation to guide decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; can clearly present results strategies and recommendations to both marketing and non-marketing audiences.
  • Understands target audience behavior and how to tailor campaigns to meet user needs at each stage of the funnel.
  • Willingness and ability to share performance marketing expertise and support continuous improvement.
  • Competence in Workfront (or similar PM tools) Google Analytics HubSpot and campaign management tools.
  • Understands and applies appropriate review and approval processes within a regulated marketing environment.
