Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre is a full-service equine clinic located in the heart of Waikato. With our state-of-the-art facility and highly experienced team we cater to all equine athletes and leisure horses with fourteen veterinarians thirteen nurses and eleven office staff. We enjoy working as a team and providing the best possible service and care to our patients.
The role:
This is a permanent full time role which includes working on a roster for on call evening and weekend work. As part of this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of equine nursing including in-field work surgical nursing daily in-patient care and emergency cases. In addition to this you will be overseeing the day to day coordination of the nursing team and equipment bookings administering rosters facilitating regular meetings overseeing learning and development as well as overall team management with support from the management team.

A qualified veterinary nurse with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing/Bachelors Degree of Veterinary Technology (or similar).
Confident and motivated with great communication interpersonal skills and a high attention to detail.
Previous leadership experience in a clinic setting.
Exceptional organisational skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Physically fit with the ability and experience in handling a variety of horses (foals racehorses yearlings sport horses ponies etc.).
Hard working diligent and reliable who can take initiative and work effectively.
Competent with numeracy and literacy skills.
Passionate about delivering high standards of care for our equine patients and have an ability to empathise.
Able to learn and be flexible in a fast paced working environment with great multitasking skills.
Able to use your initiative and provide support to all areas when needed.
